B T South vs The Big Box Store?

Selection

Big box stores typically stock the 3 or 4 models in a mower brand that can best sell themselves. At B T South we typically stock around 40 unique Toro Zero Turn models.

Homeowner + Farm  + Commercial Grades of Equipment

B T South also has brands and models that you wont find at the Big Box store like SCAG, STIHL, Spartan and we offer a broader selection of Toro homeowner models plus steps above like the TORO Titan, Z-Master, GrandStand & ProLINE. We typically display around 70 unique zero turn models in our showroom from homeowner to commercial and farm grade models between. We sometimes skip stocking a model here and there because we may not be comfortable with the engine or some other major component that we've seen trouble with.

Proper Assembly & Condition

Even when looking at the exact same models the Big Box store has, ours are still different. We take the time to get them setup and adjusted correctly which can be quite time consuming even to an experienced meticulous person. We also store our mowers indoors, away from the sun and rain, straight from the factory. Not on our watch will your new mower get sun fade and rust spots beginning to form before you even buy it.

Knowledge

With all the models to choose from, it may be helpful to have someone who can point out differences and pros & cons from one model to the next. Because we specialize in power equipment we are prepared to provide you with the information you are looking for to help you make an informed decision to meet your needs.

Support After Purchase

We not only sell these products, we service them, we carry parts, and we fulfill the manufacturer’s warranty when needed. With over a hundred of thousand dollars invested in parts on the shelf combined with factory trained, skilled technicians and a knowledgeable helpful staff, we are prepared to take care of our customers. On most of the riding equipment we offer ASAPS, our priority service program which basically puts your equipment in an express line in our service department for fast turn around time. While ASAPS is available to be purchased separately, there's usually a promotion combining it with your mower purchase that will make it even more attractive and hard to pass up.

Price & Finance Options

While we have more selection, expertise and service after the sale to offer, we don't ask you to pay more, you will find we have the same low prices as the the big box store. If you find an exception, we would appreciate you letting us know. We offer very competitive finance options on riding products as low as 0%. Ask us for details and current promotions.

Who We Are

We are a locally owned Christian family business with about a dozen employees, five of which are family and most of the rest have been here long enough that they feel like family. We strive to be the kind of business that we want to patronize when we are a customer.

We use the equipment we sell to maintain over a hundred acres of our own property which allows us to better understand and appreciate the features and qualities offered by our equipment. We manage yards, fields, pond dams & banks, gravel driveways & parking lots, trees, forest, and we heat with wood. We maintain and repair the equipment. This hands on experience influences what models we choose to carry as well as the insight and advice we share with our customers.

When a customer leaves B T South with their new equipment purchase, that's just the beginning of our support, not the end. Every day, we open to support customers with the equipment they purchased from us five, ten and twenty plus years ago.

Who They Are

We mean no disrespect to the big box store corporations. It's amazing that they can stay organized while offering hundreds of thousands of products and brands from doors & windows to paint & caulk, shrubs & trees, bird feed & rat poison, to lumber & plywood. But you wouldn't expect them to be able to intelligently discuss a problem with the mower you bought from them six years ago. If they can carry products that work for a season, then it's not their problem anymore, in fact their terms typically read it's not heir problem after 30 days.

We don't claim to be any smarter than they are, but while less than 1% of their focus is on power equipment, it's what we do. From having the right products to knowing our products, to answering to your questions, to sharing insights that you might not have known to ask about, to being there supporting our equipment over the years to come, outdoor power equipment is our profession.
